Dwight Yoakam will release his first album of all-new material in seven years on Sept. 18. He began working on the songs for the Warner Bros. album, 3 Pears, in 2008, he told The Associated Press. Yoakam also collaborated with the musician Beck and recorded part of the project in Beck's home studio in California. Yoakam released Blame the Vain on New West Records in 2005, followed by Dwight Sings Buck, a tribute album to Buck Owens, in 2007.
