The Essential Martina McBride, a 40-song compilation of music recorded during
her tenure at RCA Records, will be released Oct. 22 by RCA Nashville/Legacy Recordings. The two-CD set includes her hits and
also collects several duets, including "Still Holding On," a collaboration with
Clint Black
for his 1997
Nothin' but the Taillights, and "Chances Are," a session with
Bob
Seger for the
Hope Floats film soundtrack in 1998. Other collaborations include "Trip Around the Sun" (for
Jimmy
Buffett's
License to Chill), "Feels Like Home" (for
Raul Malo's
You're Only
Lonely) and "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man" (with
Alan Jackson for
Coal Miner's
Daughter: A Tribute to Loretta Lynn). Now signed to the Republic Nashville label,
McBride performs Friday and Saturday (Sept. 21-22) at the Menuhin Festival Gstaad in Switzerland. She resumes her U.S. tour
with a Sept. 28 appearance at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
