There's no question that Taylor Swift is an international superstar whose appeal transcends country music. But there is a fresh debate concerning her fans. On Wednesday (Dec. 5), MTV released a list of 16 artists with the most engaged fans and challenged those fans to compete for the title of "Last Fans Standing, The Best Fans of the Year." The social media challenge is part of The Big & Best of 2012: A Year End Celebration Presented by T-Mobile, and the top seven artists with the most passionate fan armies will compete throughout the eight-hour live stream starting on 12/12/12 at 12 p.m. ET.

Will Swift's fan army of "Swifties" make the cut to represent country music? They've already bought 2.8 million copies of her latest album Red which means they could have what it takes to do battle with fans of Katy Perry, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, the Wanted, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Adam Lambert, Bruno Mars, Demi Lovato, Chris Brown, One Direction and more. Hopefully, Swift's budding romance with One Direction's Harry Styles won't complicate matters for her fans. Just remember all's fair in love and war. Swift fans should go to MTV's facebook page to "share" your favorite celeb's photo as many times as you can.
