Mindy McCready
Following the Jan. 13 shooting death of her boyfriend,
Mindy McCready
consented to an NBC News interview which aired Tuesday (Jan. 29) on
Today. David Wilson, a 34-year-old record producer,
died after being transported to the hospital from the home they were sharing in Heber Springs, Ark. Wilson is the father of
McCready's 9-month-old son Zayne. She told authorities she called 911 after realizing he had been shot. McCready is not a
suspect in the case, although the Cleburne County sheriff's department continues its investigation and is awaiting lab results
to determine if the gunshot was self-inflicted. In the NBC interview, reporter Andrea Canning specifically asked McCready
if she shot Wilson. "Oh, my God, no," she replied. "He was my life. We were each other's life." She also said, "I have never
gone through anything this painful. He didn't just touch my heart, he touched my soul. He was my soulmate." The interview
is expected to be featured in an upcoming episode of NBC's
Dateline. As a country recording artist, McCready is best
known for her 1996 No. 1 hit "Guys Do It All the Time."
