The Band Perry
The Band Perry's new album will be titled
Pioneer, the band
announced Thursday (Feb. 14) via social media. The follow-up to their self-titled, platinum-selling debut album will be released
April 2. Produced by Dann Huff, the new project features the current single,
"Better
Dig Two," which reached No. 1 on this week's
Billboard country airplay chart. Before recording the album in Nashville,
the trio consulted with record producer Rick Rubin, best known for his work with
Johnny
Cash, the
Dixie Chicks, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Beastie
Boys, among others. "Our time in the studio with Rick was so incredible because during our early sessions, he challenged us
to set higher goals as songwriters," said Reid Perry. His brother Neil Perry added, "With that experience came the realization
that we needed to take the music back home to Tennessee and have Dann Huff bring the songs to life with his production. Sometimes
where one starts off is not where one ends up, which is a big theme for us on
Pioneer. The Band Perry are nominated
for group of the year at this year's Academy of Country Music Awards.
