Before taking her life Sunday afternoon (Feb. 17),

also shot and killed a dog that belonged to her late boyfriend, David Wilson. McCready's body was found on the porch of her
home in Heber Springs, Ark. Authorities said she died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. An unidentified source who claimed
to be close to McCready told Fox News, "Mindy really loved her dog, and that would not have been an act of malice at all.
It would have been more of a case where she just didn't want to leave the dog alone." Two other dogs on the property were
unharmed, authorities said. Wilson, who died of a gunshot wound at their home in January, is the father of the singer's 10-month
old son Zayne. The infant and McCready's other son, 6-year-old Zander, are currently in foster care in Arkansas. A memorial
service for McCready is being planned in Nashville.
