Tim McGraw overcame a major legal hurdle in the fight with his former record label after the Tennessee Supreme Court last week denied an appeal filed by Curb Records. In September, a state appeals court in Nashville ruled that McGraw was free to record for other labels while the litigation continued. Curb took the case to the state's highest court which refused to hear the appeal. McGraw and the label have had a longstanding dispute over the terms of his recording contract and the way his music was released. Two Lanes of Freedom, McGraw's first project for Big Machine Records, was released on Feb. 5 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard country albums chart.
