Your Tips To Go Green
- Keep reusable bags in a convenient location near the door of your home as a reminder to bring them with you when doing your shopping. Not only are these becoming super trendy, but they are very reasonable in price. Many grocery stores will give a discount for each green bag you use.
- To keep plants and vegetables moist, use coffee grounds as opposed to water. It's as simple as making a pot of coffee and feeding the plants. Not only do you get a pick me up, so do your plants.
- Instead of throwing metals and plastics away, set up a recycling bin in a convenient location in your home.
- Water the lawn less. Remember, it does rain in most places.
- Carry a water bottle with you that can be refilled multiple times.
- Make sure to take a reusable mug to the coffee shop instead of using paper cups. Not only will you be saving the environment, you can save some cash, too. Just the other morning, I spent one-tenth of what I would normally pay on a black coffee because of my handy, reusable mug. I finished the cup, washed it out and saved a tree. It's as easy as one, two, three.
- Hold off running the washer and dryer until you have a full load. Wait to wash until your laundry bin is nearing the top.
- Turn off unused electrical items in your home.
- Turn off lights when not in use.
- Take it easy when dispensing lawn chemicals. Tons of retails chains are now coming out with safe, green products that can make a difference not only for your lawn but for the environment as well.
- Never forget to use the three R's -- reduce, reuse and recycle.
- Ride a bike, skateboard or scooter that doesn't pollute. Not only will you be decreasing toxins in the air, you will also be improving your health.
