America's Second Harvest
Founded in 1979, America's Second Harvest is the nation's largest charitable hunger-relief organization, securing and distributing nearly 2 billion pounds of donated food and grocery products annually through a network of 200 food banks and food-rescue organizations.
Last year, the America's Second Harvest Network provided food assistance to more than 25 million low-income hungry people in the United States, including more than 9 million children and nearly 3 million seniors.
There are many different ways to volunteer. Help out in your local community by:
- Mentoring at your local Kids Café, which provides meals, recreational and social activities to low-income children
- Repackaging donated food for use at food pantries
- Transporting food to charitable agencies
