About Episode

  1. Bruce Hornsby and Ricky Skaggs bring their love of musical diversity to CMT Crossroads, filmed in front of an invitation-only audience in Nashville. Hornsby and his band, The Range, emerged in 1986 with the release of his multi-platinum album, The Way It Is. The album scored three Top 20 hits, including its No. 1 title track, and earned the group its first Grammy for Best New Artist. To date, he has sold more than 10 million records and collaborated with artists such as Bob Dylan, Don Henley, Bonnie Raitt and Willie Nelson. In the early 1990s, he performed some 100 concerts as a part-time member of the legendary rock band the Grateful Dead. His career accolades include a 1989 Grammy for Best Bluegrass Recording for "Valley Road," from Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's Will The Circle Be Unbroken, Volume II. An eleven-time Grammy winner in a remarkable six different categories, Skaggs is an icon of American music whose career has come full circle -- from beginnings in bluegrass, including a spot at age 15 in Ralph Stanley's band to mainstream country stardom in the 1980s and a recent series of acclaimed and bestselling bluegrass albums. Hornsby and Skaggs have completed work on a new album together for release via SonyBMG/Legacy.
