For nearly two decades, Farm Aid has been one of the biggest musical events of each year, raising millions of dollars to support the nation's family farmers in their struggle against corporate giants. Farm Aid -- The Fight Goes On explores the history of Farm Aid, how the artistic community has pulled together to save the family farmer from extinction and how the issues facing the American farmer have changed since the fundraiser's inception. Utilizing both new and archival interviews with artists such as Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Neil Young, Dave Matthews, Bob Dylan, Elton John, Billy Bob Thornton, Sheryl Crow, Jon Bon Jovi, Beck, Barenaked Ladies, Phish, Loretta Lynn, Emmylou Harris, Waylon Jennings, Billy Joel and many others, the CMT News special will also feature vintage clips from some of the most memorable performances over the years.

In 1985, Farm Aid was born from the passion and commitment of a group of musical artists who wanted to give something back to the rural communities that raised them. Since then, Farm Aid co-founders Nelson, Mellencamp and Young have brought hundreds of artists together to sing a song of hope for rural America. In 2001, Matthews joined the Farm Aid board of directors to lend his voice to the cause. Thousands of Americans have joined these artists in their commitment to help keep family farmers on their land to provide fresh, locally grown, healthful food. Since its beginning, Farm Aid has granted more than $17 million to more than 100 farm organizations, churches and service agencies in 44 states.
