CMT: Country Music Television's new landmark performance series CMT CROSSROADS features the musical pairing of Hank Williams Jr. and Kid Rock. CMT CROSSROADS, which teams-up country music stars with music stars from other genres - pop, rock, R & B - to play together, swap stories, and share their common love of music, launched in January with award-winning singers/songwriters Lucinda Williams and Elvis Costello. "Great music knows no boundaries," said Kaye Zusmann, Vice President, Program Development and Production, CMT. "In developing this new CMT series, our convictions about the deep influence country music continues to have on other genres have been resoundingly confirmed - Hank and Kid Rock are the embodiment of this mutual respect and admiration. In addition to an unbelievable performance, CMT viewers will be treated to a little down time with Hank and Kid Rock at Hank's Tennessee home. The two stars also talk about how they became friends through their love of music." The friends' most recent collaboration resulted in the song "Naked Women and Beer." Williams has received 16 songwriting honors and has released 20 gold and six platinum or multiple platinum albums. He was named country's Entertainer of the Year for five consecutive years and has won four Emmys for his "ABC Monday Night Football" theme song. Kid Rock, born Robert James Ritchie, from the small Michigan town of Romeo, is perhaps the only artist in modern rock to boast being influenced equally by Run-DMC, George Jones, Grandmaster Flash, Bob Seger and David Allen Coe. He signed with Jive Records in 1990 and became the opening tour act for Ice Cube and Too Short. In 1998, he signed with Atlantic Records, and released Devil Without a Cause. That same year, the Detroit Red Wings chose the opening rap from Early Morning Stoned Pimp, which boasts the phrase "Ain't no party like a Detroit party/ 'Cause a Detroit party don't stop," as their victory chant.
