George Strait, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Willie Nelson Martina McBride and ZZ Top will star in One Country, a concert benefiting victims of Hurricane Katrina. The acts will perform live at Reliant Stadium in Houston. The concert event is part of CMT's pro-social banner, One Country.
"The magnitude of this concert reflects the enormous willpower of the country music industry to rebuild and bring the Gulf Coast back to life," said CMT executive vice president and general manager Brian Philips. "Our people live to perform and give back to the fans. We're fortunate to be able to stage this huge event in the region where the need is the greatest."
In addition to the artists who are donating their time, all elements for producing the concert -- including sound, lights, staging, crews, security and ushers -- are being donated by the concert vendors. Reliant Stadium's management will donate complete use of the facility and all related services to allow proceeds to go directly to charity.
CMT's One Country campaign was launched earlier this year and is designed to promote volunteerism on a local and national level by highlighting everyday heroes and raising awareness of the great works of many non-profit organizations.
