Powell Family

[TV-PG]
It wasn't easy for Carrie Powell to bring relief to her younger son, Keenan, who suffers from a rare cell disorder, asthma, as well as allergies. It was all made worse by the dust and living mold in their Arleta, California home. Doctors told Carrie that Keenan wouldn't live to see his first birthday. Determined to not give up hope, Carrie, a florist by trade, turned to her herb garden to help Keenan deal with his diseases. So, the team of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition made a house call. Their mission was to prescribe the right antidote for Keenan by eradicating the black mold in their home and provide a healthy, new environment for the entire family.

Cadigan-Scott Family

[TV-PG]
In June 2003 Diane died as a result of heart problems. Mark died 16 days later of a heart attack. Their eight kids were left to grieve a double, unbelievable loss. The two oldest siblings moved back home and took legal guardianship of their brothers and sisters, which enabled the family to stay together. Otherwise the kids would have ended up in foster care. To assist the Cadigan-Scott family in this new phase of their lives, community support was marshaled from local police officers, firefighters, teachers, church members, business owners and others who wanted to help the kids fix up their run-down, 1400-square-foot house. But money was scarce. During the week that the home was being made over by Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Ty Pennington performed a free one-man concert where he played and sang guitar. The other design team members and production crew also got up on stage to join in the fun. The community came out in force for the show and raised thousands of dollars that are being used to help the family in a variety of ways.

Anderson Family 2 hours

[TV-PG]
In March 2000, Rodney Anderson of South Central Los Angeles was on his way to the NBA and a degree in social work, thanks to a full basketball scholarship from California State University at Fullerton (CSUF). On a rare day off from practice, he came home to have dinner with his family. Afterwards, he went for a walk -- the last time he would do so. Gang members approached Rodney and shot him in the back, thinking he was a rival gang member, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down, with little movement in his arms. With assistance from the state of California and former assemblyman Carl Washington, a contractor was hired to begin work on the Anderson home to make it wheelchair-accessible for Rodney. But the contractor never returned to complete the job and left gaping holes where there should have been walls, leaving the house exposed to the elements and making it almost completely uninhabitable. Rodney is an honor student at CSUF and attends classes and basketball games in a wheelchair. While Rodney and his fiancee Monique, along with his parents, sister Glenda and her three children, Mellone, 19, Louis, 16 and 12-year-old Cordney, went on vacation to the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, CSUF held a special campus event where Rodney's basketball number was retired.

Carr Family, The

[TV-PG]
We're off to Mineola, Texas to help another amazing family. Mike and Katrina Carr are loving parents to four adopted children who were abandoned in Kazakhstan. Two of the children, Ryanne and Rina, were born with Amniotic Band Syndrome which caused many physical challenges. And Mike has been plagued with diabetes since he was a child. Mike and Katrina have battled through their challenges to provide a loving home for their children. However, over $50,000 in repairs is needed and Mike was recently laid off from his job. The Carrs need help and we know a team that will step up to the challenge. When the Extreme Team arrives, we all fall in love with Ryanne, who Paige describes as a "spitfire." It's obvious how this bundle of energy won all of her gold medals. Ty learns that she has 11 pairs of legs. When he asks her what she'd like to do with the ones she doesn't need, Ryanne tells us that she'd like to donate them to Haiti. Katrina explains that the recent earthquake created the nation with the most amputees ever. Comedian Bill Engvall joins us on the bus this week. Bill and his wife do a lot of work with organizations that focus on kids with special needs, so he's most impressed with Mike and Katrina. Bill offers some helpful suggestions although John may beg to differ with them, as he's been tasked with creating an automatic door for Nickolas' room. Ty calls the family during their Hawaiian vacation to instruct them to open the secret box. Inside is a pair of binoculars. Ty instructs them to look out at the ocean. Riding in on a wave is Bethany Hamilton, a professional surfer who competes with the best despite losing an arm in a shark attack. Katrina is excited because she knows Bethany is a great athlete for Ryanne to emulate. Ty has one more surprise for the Carr family. They watch a video from representatives of Limbs for Life Foundation and Range in Motion Project. The video tells how they are using the legs Ryanne donated to help two girls in Haiti walk again. Ryanne has tears of joy in her eyes. We're getting a bit misty, too.

Williams Family, The

[TV-PG]
The Extreme Team is headed to Pine Mountain Valley, Georgia. As soon as we get on the bus, we meet Michael Oher and the members of his adoptive family, Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy. You probably already know that the hit movie "The Blind Side" is based on their inspirational story. We watch the application video of the Williams Family. The youngest member, Jacob, has a disease that causes paralysis from the waist down. The father of the family, Jeremy, was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease two years ago. His wife, Jennifer, felt like her heart had been ripped out when she got the news. Jeremy has not let the disease slow him down. He coaches a high school football team to a perfect 11-0 season. Leigh Anne is impressed, as she knows a little something about inspirational football coaches. The dream home the Williams family bought 13 years ago has become a nightmare. The house seems pretty tight. Paul can tell that Jacob wants to be independent but just doesn't have the access to do so. Tracy spends time with Josie and learns about the responsibilities she has taken upon herself to help her father. She's very mature for her age. Necessary home repairs and improvements have been delayed due to medical bills. Let's get this family the home they deserve. Jeremy knows what hardships may be headed his way in the future, but he tells Ty that his real concern is for his family. We can't help but grab a tissue at this point. We follow Jeremy to the high school where he coaches and witness firsthand the impact he's had on so many young men. To keep with the football theme, in one of the most unique demolitions to date, ESPN football analysts Herm Edwards, Mark Schlereth, Mark May and Desmond Howard team up with the Extreme Team. Ty throws the final pass that literally brings down the house. The designers give us a little insight on some of the themes they want to do for each of the rooms. Leigh Anne shows us her leadership by handling the locker room and promptly whips Michael into shape on the construction site. Wilmer Valderrama even stops by with Handy Manny to offer assistance on Jacob's room. Ty gives the Williams family a call during their vacation to say he has a surprise in store. We soon find out that Demi Lovato is there to meet the family. Jennifer tells us how Jacob and Josie have loved her music since Camp Rock. The family is treated to a performance with Demi singing "Make a Wave." Jennifer describes the way Jeremy has made a wave to everyone around him. When the Williams clan arrives back home, they stop by the school to take a tour of the "Jeremy Williams Field House." Jeremy tells us how football has made him the man he is today He's learned many important life lessons from the game. He also finds more inspiration in the kids than they do in him. "Bus Driver, Move That Bus!" The house will no longer be a trap for Jacob, as he'll now be able to move through it with much more ease.

Skaggs Family, The

[TV-PG]
Earlier this season EMHE asked you, the fans, to "get on the bus." After receiving thousands of submissions, we're happy to report that Santino and Tanya were part of the masses who answered our call! After being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, Tanya can't think of a better memory to make with her son, Santino, than to hang out with the Extreme Team. Santino mentions his least favorite part of the show is when Ty is yelling. Sorry, Santino, but we don't see him quieting down anytime soon. Bachelorette Jillian Harris offers her design skills as she joins the team. Ty teases her that there won't be a candlelit dinner or hot tub on the show. Bummer. Finally, Xzibit is back again for some more makeover fun as we head to Slaughterville, Oklahoma to help the Skaggs family.

Broadbent Family

[TV-PG]
Patricia Broadbent, a longtime advocate for children and former social worker, has given birth to one child and adopted six others in her lifetime, three of whom still live at home -- Hydeia, 20, Shana, 17, and Trisha, 15. All three of these girls contracted AIDS from their birth mothers and are now living with the virus. Recently Patricia was diagnosed with lung cancer and is currently undergoing successful chemotherapy treatments. She came to realize, as she faces her own mortality, that her small house is just not suitable for her daughters to continue to thrive in, should her own life end early. When the team from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition learned of her plight, it was decided that Patricia, who has spent the better part of her life teaching and educating the public about unconditional love and acceptance of everyone, should have a house she will feel proud of to pass on to her beloved children.

Turner Family 2 hours

[TV-PG]
Told she could never have children of her own, Beverly Turner of Irvington, NJ, looked into adoption. Now, at age 54, she has been a special mom to 18 special needs children -- despite having myasthenia gravis, a neuromuscular disease. Raising children who suffer from bi-polar disorder, autism and blindness isn't easy, but Beverly feels honored to have the opportunity. She knows that most of these kids came from homes where they were abused or neglected, and was happy to provide them with a loving home. Seeing an article in the local paper on the Turners and their house fire, about one hundred anonymous community members, including the Mayor of Irvington, clipped the article and sent it in to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, hoping the design team could help! And now that the smoke has cleared, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will answer the community's call and head to Irvington to help this very deserving mom and her special family.
