Jonathan Torrens has worked as a performer, writer and producer in Canada for 15 years. He currently plays J-Roc in the popular Canadian show Trailer Park Boys, which was named "Best Comedy" at the 2004 Gemini Awards. In 1989 he started a seven-year run as one of the hosts of Street Cents, an award-winning show for youth. For five years, Torrens hosted the CBC Television show, Jonovision, for which his sketch and character work earned him seven Gemini Award nominations. He has starred in several Canadian television programs, including This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Royal Canadian Air Farce, Pit Pony, Rideau Hall and Degrassi: The Next Generation. In his film work, Torrens won Best Supporting Actor at the 1999 Atlantic Film Festival for his feature debut in Beefcake, which also premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. His first romantic comedy, The Breadmaker, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2003. Torrens is featured in Dirty Love, starring Jenny McCarthy, which will be premiering at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. |
