Trading Spouses Trading Spouses Ep. 109 [TV-PG] |
A tidy Atlanta mother who performs domestic-service work trades places with a messy mother from Boston. Veronica Thibodeaux, who lives in the outskirts of Atlanta and performs domestic-service work, is an independent woman who likes things her own way, especially around the house. Her husband, Alvin, who works as a custodian, usually lets Veronica have her own way. Veronica says Alvin is a good husband. She thinks her kids have a much better life than she did when she was young. Meanwhile Diane Famiglietti, who lives in Boston and works as an insurance broker, admits that although she loves her family, she's a terrible housekeeper. She describes her family as being very unorthodox, but says everyone does things together. Her husband, Richard, who works as a science teacher, complains that the house his family lives in is too small. The family shares one bathroom. Veronica thinks her daughter, Brittney, will be very happy when the mother swap begins. Brittney admits she won't miss her mother. |

After throwing a party for friends and relatives of their host family, Diane and Veronica decide how to allocate $50,000 in prize money. Diane has noticed that the Thibodeuxs rarely do things together as a family. She enlists Brittney's help in planning an upcoming party for the Thibodeuxs' relatives and friends. Meanwhile Veronica tells the Famigliette family about their duties in cleaning up the house. Arianna says she can't clean a room because she's allergic to dust. Veronica thinks Arianna is just being lazy. It comes time for Diane and Veronica to decide how the $50,000 will be spent. They write down their instructions and seal them in an envelope. When the time comes to leave for the airport, Diane bids the Thibodeuxs a quick goodbye. Meanwhile Veronica says goodbye to the Famiglietti family and is driven to the airport. Diane and Veronica meet for the very first time. They share a warm hug and remark how much they love each other's families. Diane tells Veronica how much Brittney loves her. Diane also says that Veronica needs to spend more time with her family. Eventually Diane and Veronica exchange envelopes and hug. When Diane arrives home in Boston, her family greets her warmly. Arianna remarks how much more she appreciates her mother since the swapping. Back in Atlanta the Thibodeuxs remark they doubt their mother has changed very much since participating in the experiment. |

Diana worries about the mother she's swapping families with, because she knows Zamariah can be a handful. Meanwhile, in San Diego, California, Barbara Gates, a mother, homemaker, and animal-rights activist, keeps a vegan household. She and her family try to abstain from hurting any animals. She lives with her husband Jim, and their children: ten-year-old son, Jack; and daughter Lucy, age eight. |
