I'm the son of a third generation farmer, wa married 17 years to the farmer's daughter. My father was born in an old sod house in Bayard, Nebraska, on a corn farm. This song always brings me back to memories of my Dad. Less than a half a country mile from the old soddy is Chimney Rock, now a national monument, and just a few feet away the Oregon trail.
