Go behind the scenes with John Rich on his music video "Shuttin' Detroit Down."
I know how this makes people feel I have worked for years in a little south georgia poultry plant that they announced in Feb. would shut down. Many of the people that work here actually helped to build the building and the facilities and have worked there all there life, they too can not retire because there is nothing left for them to retire with. The 42 people that I worked along side have touched my heart when I started there and then when I was in a severe accident they were all there for me, when my father died they were there and helped me and supported me. I have grown to think of these people as an extention to my family. When they announced that they were closing us down over 900 people have lost their jobs and we have nothing left to turn to. We have asked for help and the state will not help and government has turned their backs on us becuase they say that there are more important things right now like the banks and bigger businesses. We were part of a big business that had chose to turn their backs on this little south georgia facility and the dedicated people who have dedicated over 30+ years of their lives to making this location successful. John Rich has hit home with this song and he has stated what many of us wish we could say and be heard. I just wish and hope that the right people hear this song and do something positive with what is being said and turn things around for all of us. Thanks
