Merle Haggard talks about his current album, I Am What I Am, in this exclusive interview.
Thank you for your music Hag. Your lyric and tune always seem to medicate us from the heartaches and stresses of life. I only wish I were down on some blue bayou sharing a beer with you sitting in a couple of rocking chairs old man. You truly are a voice for GREAT AMERICA "god rest her soul". I pray the best for you and your family.
We love the Hag, never ever get tired of hearing him sing oe talk. I have been collecting items of the hags for over 30 yrs, been to so many shows I lost track. The last few years I have seen him 2 or 3 times in that year! His son Benny has become a new addition to the show, so young and extremely talented, just like the rest of the haggard men. Thersa has been amazing in taming the old man down, lol. I wish some day I could have the opportunity to meet them both. I have felt bad after some of his shows you can tell his back must really be hurting and for him to put it aside to come out and give us the joy of listening to him sing just amazes me. I also have back trouble and I could not do what he does! Merle is and will always been what country music is all about, this new stuff its not country music. COUNTRY IS MERLE HAGGARD, GEORGE JONES, LEFTY, CONWAY JUST TO NAME A FEW....I want to say thanks to his entire family for sharing him with the world.
