john - your song the lord and the man hit me hard-see my dad fought ww2 and korea and i have his discharge papers on the wall with mine-and a picture of dad-my sister liz -and me---dad was army air corp--liz was marine---and i was navy--but what hit me was your story of your granddady and the song------see pearl harbor was dec 7th 1941---my dad enlisted jan 1942---20 yrs old---alot of young men fought and died for the freedoms that our young don't appreciate---growing up dad reminded us of our duty--(i am only son) i served hoping i made a difference like my dad---now there is only me left in that picture on the wall--see dad died oct 31st 1980 and liz died dec 25 2008 of cancer----and you are right when you say freedom isn't free--all i have to is look at the picture and know the price ---keep singing and good bless you and allthe vets-and troops=
I had the opportunity to spend some time with John, Six , Fred and Charlie last weekend in Prince Edward Island Canada. They were very sweet and great guys! Treated me terrific and shared some wonderful Music. I just wanted to say Tnanks Guys ! Barry

Maybe everyone should listen to this " GREAT SONG ", and realize that , but for the grace of god , that could be us. Thank you for speaking up for the " Little People"! My Dad is 71yrs.old and he work's at my Business P.T., the Man just does not know how to " NOT WORK!" My parent's both taught me , that they did not care what I did for a living as long as I was happy! Not alway's , I am a 3rd. Generation in my Husband's Family Business ( because I am only 41yrs.old)! People think it is easy when you have your own business, I will admit and can be like for Doctor Appt's and such . I am a Cancer Survivor going on 6-yrs., but every year I get tested scare's me to death. When you work for someone else you can call in sick , kind of tough w/family - especially when one of them is your Husband. They are all older than me by 10yrs. or more. But we are no RICH like people think - We are a Meat Company in Rhode Island and thing's are tough everywhere. But I do agree with you , they alway's let the rich guy's go or they go to Camp Fed. for a little while, they have no remorse or care about the " AVERAGE WORKING JOE!!!" If they ever had to do what we all do , day in and day out - they could never do it. I have been doing it while getting treatment for Cancer, proud to say I am 6yrs.clean in 2009, but next year when I take the test again - who know's! That would be the biggest advantage of owning your own company - you can actually make these appt.'s that they set-up at unbelieveable hour's. " THANK'S FOR TALKING ABOUT THE HARD WORKING PEOPLE, I INCLUDE MYSELF, MY HUSBAND AND OF COURSE MY DAD!!" I AM SO PROUD OF HIM - WHEN WE WERE GROWING UP , HE TOOK WHATEVER JOB THERE WAS , NOW A DAY'S THEY DON'T DO THAT!" " BUT KEEP SINGING ABOUT THE REAL PEOPLE WHO ARE THE BACKBONE OF THE U.S.A.!!
