I LOVE LOVE LOVE that CMT is playing AVETT BROTHERS!!!!!! This is the best feel good song EVER! These North Carolina boys make me so proud to be living in NC! Keep them on your radar and CMT ratings will climb.
kind of a folksy, country with a twist of the beatles? Catchy not sure about this one yet. I shut my eyes and listened and got into it a little more.
THEY ARE HAVING FUN . THATS WHAT ITS ABOUT
ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!!
The avvett brothers aren't limited to one genre
YES ! It's about time everyone else can know what We fans have known for a long time: The Avett Brothers are great!!
If this is becoming mainstream music than all I can say is I love the direction mainstream is going. Thank you CMT
I agree with you, but I and Love and You isn't where you should start. You should listen to Country was or Carolina Jubilee to get a real feel for the avett brothers music.
As a long time Avett Bros. fan, I'm so psyched that they're finally getting the national/international respect they deserve. I can remember when they were still playing small shows and I as well as everyone in the crowd that they'd be huge some day. Although its a little sad I'll probably never see them in small, private venues anymore, they deserve all the props in the world for what they've been able to do and evolve both musically and as the beautiful, loving individuals they are. God bless The Avett's! 000a000a@butterflygrl: You couldn't be more spot on "...modern country music is nothing but bubblegum pop with a southern twang. By showcasing The Avett Brothers, CMT elevates the genre." Amen to that!!!
I was responding to the comments questioning why CMT would feature a "pop" song rather than "country". If your definition of pop is simply an upbeat song then I agree, they make kick ass pop music! But I think of pop more as a genre and my point was simply that you wouldn't label them pop if you heard their body of work (which I consider I and Love and You to be a good introduction). Just arguing semantics. I think these guys belong on CMT because they embody what country music used to represent before it all became so packaged for consumption. They belong on MTV and VH1 and wherever else they can gain a wider audience for that matter! They transcend all genres and they deserve attention!
Also, in a recent interview Scott referred to this song as a pop song, and said that's why he wanted it on the record.
Actually, I own every song they've ever recorded, have seen them nearly 30 times, and I love the pop aspects of what they do. No need to get defensive about the Avett's being called pop. In this case it's a compliment. The Avett's have written some of my favorite pop songs ever!
I would listen to all their older albums to get a better understanding of their roots.
When Scott finally smiles <3 000a000aAwesome vid, Bros. Thank you!
Anyone who confuses The Avett Brothers with pop has never listened to their music. Do yourselves a favor and listen to their album "I and Love and You", or better yet, see a live show. The fact is, modern country music is nothing but bubblegum pop with a southern twang. By showcasing The Avett Brothers, CMT elevates the genre.
I agree that this song is pop, but with roots in folk... That said, I think it's pretty fitting for CMT since all they really play is pop masked as country. I blame The Eagles for ruining country music, and I thank bands like The Avett's for bringing it back.
Can't stop smiling :D
Definitely not pop. Nowhere near pop.
It's called pop
Exactly! Folk is the closest genre I could think of to describe them even though they are a mix (:
