here is the recipe! http://www.cmt.com/news/feature/1672387/todd-wilburs-version-of-outback-steakhouse-bloomin-onion.jhtml
Hey, I tried the recipe for the blooming Onion and it was great! Even my 9-year old boy, who doesn't like hardly anything, had some, and enjoyed it. I think that by the time you buy all the spices and ingredients to make the silly thing, that it is cheaper to just go to the outback and buy one. Just the oil alone is $9.00 to $12.00 and unless you plan on using the oil for other things, it could be a waste of money. I came to the same conclusion after making the kfc recipe. It is cheaper to go buy it at KFC than to cook it yourself. It was fun though just to try and see if it could be done.
Beats the heck out of Sweet Home Alabama and Dallas Cheerleaders.
How stupid are people? They are showing you a full 1 hour commercial and having you waiting to see it every week. Notice how nice the "owners" of these recipes are to this jerk? Think about it, if he were trying to "hack" your recipe that provides you with a huge revenue and expose it on television, would you be so congenial ??? Exactly, and nobody else would either.
where do you find the details of the batter
Where do I find the recipe?
There is enough batter for two onions in this recipe. I cut the salt in half, and I think when I make these for company I'll cut back some on the "hot" spices. We loved it! My husband told me to make two onions because he was going to eat a lot. We ended up sharing one onion. It's fillling and delicious.
Very interesting - Posted one comment and it didn't show up so let's try one more time. I have been wanting info on the Bloomin Onion for a while. Got a lot of info watching the show last night but,.... If Gloria was so secretive and the onions were supposed to be cut by hand and they weren't, how did the onions get so well cut and where did the onion corer come from that only comes with Gloria? Was Outback a little more cooperative than the tv audience was lead to see. Even though, I loved the show. Very informative on the Bloomin Onion. Would love to see the complete process but, know that's not going to happen.
Interesting episode. Seems a little staged but hey, it's T.V. for cryin' out loud and most "reality" shows are pretty much ALL STAGED anyway. I like the show. It's entertaining and the host seems clever and intelligent. They do offer recipes (online) too which is cool. Seems his onion was so much smaller than the Bloomin' and every judge would have noticed that...
just like katherine, i would like the recipe also. always been a big fan of the bloomin onion and have the cholesterol level to prove it!
I want that recipe. It doesn't have to be perfect. I saw the episode last night. It looks close enough to me...
