Taylor and Josh Kerr celebrated the first birthday of their miracle baby, Leighton Grace.
The birth of their little girl was far from easy, making the milestone extra special. The "Well In Your World" artist turned to social media Tuesday (Jan. 17) evening, to share a glimpse of the precious celebration.
"Happy first birthday LG! Love you so much #preemie #firstbirthday," wrote Kerr alongside the video.
The short clip featured the infant diving into her smash cake, while sporting a massive black bow. Kerr perfectly executed the space-themed affair with eye-catching details. She decorated her house with a metallic balloon arch, a planet tablecloth, custom-made star cookies, and a personalized sign that read, "Leighton's First Trip Around The Sun."
The singer's husband also took to his personal account to share heartwarming father-daughter moments from the memorable gathering. The carousel began with Leighton Grace smiling ear-to-ear in a "Little Sprout" t-shirt, a hysterical cake mishap, and their bundle of joy playing with a kid-friendly bumper car.
"How is our baby 1 already @taylordye //You're the best thing that ever happened to us LG. Happy 1st bday, and glad you enjoy your bumper car 💜," shared Josh.
Country music fans and fellow musicians flocked to the comments to wish Leighton Grace a happy and healthy birthday.
"1) I'm obsessed. 2) do they make those bumper cars for 24 year olds bc I need one," said singer-songwriter Dylan Brady. “STOP 😭😭😭🖤⚡️,” shared Kat & Alex. "A year already??? Happy birthday, sweet girl! 💛," added a follower.
The couple welcomed their bundle of joy on January, 17, 2022. However, they checked into the hospital in December due to pregnancy complications. Their daughter was born prematurely at 28 weeks – weighing 2 pounds and 5 ounces. The songstress spent 53 days in the NICU following the birth and waited diligently until medical professionals gave them the approval to leave.
"Leighton Grace Kerr, born January 17, 2022//she's beautiful, strong, and everything we have ever dreamed of," they explained in a joint Instagram post. "She decided to be a Capricorn like her daddy. We already can't wait for the day we get to finally take her home."
While Kerr was tucked away at home taking care of her newborn, Maddie & Tae scored their first-ever CMT Music Award for "Woman You Got" in the Group/ Duo Video of the Year category. Bandmate Maddie Font accepted the accolade on their behalf and delivered a touching acceptance speech dedicated to the resilient mother.
When Kerr and Font returned to the road for "CMT Next Women of Country Tour Presents: All Song No Static Tour," her daughter joined in on the fun. Maddie & Tae have a string of dates lineup for 2023 in support of their well-rounded collection, "Through The Madness Vol.2." For tickets and upcoming appearances, visit maddieandtae.com.
