Taylor Swift Announces First National Tour as Headliner

Kellie Picker Will Open Shows in 52 Cities and 38 States

Taylor Swift will launch her first nationwide tour as a headliner with an April 23 show in Evansville, Ind. Kellie Pickler, Swift's friend and occasional songwriting partner, will be the support act for the Fearless Tour 2009 which will hit 52 cities in 38 states and provinces in the U.S. and Canada over the span of six months. In most markets, ticket prices will start at $20 plus local fees.

Gloriana, a new group emphasizing four-part vocal harmonies, will also be performing on all tour dates. Their first single, "Wild at Heart," has just been released to country radio stations.

"Headlining my own tour is a dream come true," Swift said in a press release announcing the tour on Friday (Jan. 30). "This way, I can play more music every night than I ever have before. Having written my own songs, they are all stories in my head, and my goal for this tour is to bring those stories to life. My favorite thing when I go to a concert  is having lots of changing things to look at, so I've been working really hard to make this show as multi-dimensional as possible. I want to be sure that everyone has the opportunity to come see my show, so we have affordable tickets available for every date we do this year."

Prior to the official tour launch, Swift will headline three shows in the U.S., including two major events in Texas -- the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo (Feb. 10) and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (March 20). She'll also perform on March 1 at the Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City, Fla., before heading to Australia for four concerts taking place March 5-12.
