"Feel Like a Rock Star" is the video that almost wasn't. Between the crazy busy schedules of Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney, there just wasn't enough time to put one together. But then Chesney had an idea: Find a few hours -- and an airplane hangar -- and film a little bit of a tour warm-up.
I talked to the director of this tour-rehearsal-in-a-hangar video, Shaun Silva, Tuesday (April 24), and he told me what Chesney and McGraw were like on that set in a Nashville-area hangar.
"Both of them just draw you in," he said. "Both of them captivate you in different ways. Kenny is all over the stage. He really is an artist who puts a lot of passion and energy and drive into all his performances, almost like an athlete. And Tim has a presence that just pulls you in. He's not going to be the guy running around the stage, but he will absolutely captivate you." Silva said the video shows you both sides to each superstar, which I can't help but think will be exactly what fans see on their Brothers of the Sun tour.
And that tour is bound to be a stellar one, mostly because of the decades of hits between them but also because of the friendship Chesney and McGraw have.
"I think it's so rare that two friends both make it to the level that they've made it. I don't know that that's ever happened," Silva said. "I think there are superstars who become friends after they are superstars. But for two guys to start out at the same time and have separate solo careers and then both become major superstars? That's very rare."
