Riders’ Music Graces Oscar Champ

For the Birds, the Oscar winner Sunday night (March 24) for best animated short film, features an original musical score by western harmony group Riders in the Sky. Director Ralph Eggleston acknowledged the quartet’s “wonderful sound work” when he accepted the award on behalf of Pixar Animation Studios. “A big western tip of the ten-gallon hat to Ralph Eggleston and the talented buckaroos and buckarettes who created such a clever, crowd-pleasing entertainment,” says Riders’ bassist Too Slim in a news release. “We perform the song we created for the animation, “The Big Highwire Hop,” at each of our live shows.” For the Birds was the opening short for the Walt Disney feature film Monsters, Inc. 03/25/02
