Country trio Runaway June recently debuted new singer Stevie Woodward, new song “Broken Hearts (Do Broken Things)” and on Friday they unveiled a new music video to go with it.
The band explained the songs is about the crazy things that people do when they have a broken heart - and the video illustrates some of those things in a lighthearted way.
The video was shot in the afternoon and evening. Woodward jumped into the swimming pool at midnight to mark the end of the shoot and water was only about 55 degrees.
“Broken Hearts (Do Broken Things)” is an acoustic, guitar-driven, groovy mid-tempo written by Mandi Sagal, Steve Fee, Sarah Lake. The song showcases the trio’s harmonies, sassy vibe and relatability.
“We all know that feeling of getting your heart broken and going out and doing some questionable things, so we wanted to make ‘BROKEN HEARTS’ feel as supportive and inclusive as possible,” says Woodward, Runaway June’s newest member. “Whenever we play that song live we see the groups of girls out in the crowd dancing and going crazy, acting out the lyrics,” Stovall adds. “That’s exactly what we want from all our music – for people to hear it and let loose and have so much fun.”
The video is a whimsical look at the personality of the three band members and how much fun they are having together.
