"(Richie's) bedroom was right across the hallway from mine when I was little. And he was listening to Hank Williams, Jr. or Waylon, Lynyrd Skynyrd or Bob Seeger. I just, whatever was popular really, Richie loved all music. And I would be sitting there going, 'Man, that guy's my hero. That's the coolest guy. He's my big brother,'" Shelton had said of his late big brother.
Now that house, with those bedrooms, is for sale.
Shelton's mother Dorothy has put the family's Ada, Oklahoma three-bedroom house at 1830 S Broadway Blvd. on the market for $250,000. After a few years as a rental, now it's time to sell.
The ranch home was built in 1973, just a few years before Shelton was born (This is not the house on five acres that Shelton has described as one with a backyard creek full of turtles and crawdads, though).
Even though Shelton doesn't live in the heart of Ada right now, it will forever be a part of him and his music. His 2014 album Bringing Back the Sunshine features the town's local water tower right on the cover.
