LISTEN: Colton Dixon Teases Unreleased Track "Build A Boat" Featuring Gabby Barrett

Gabby Barrett: "These lyrics really hit me, and it's such a blessing to be part of this new version."

Country hitmaker Gabby Barrett is a busy bee.

While working on her second studio album, the platinum-selling artist joined forces with Christian artist and fellow "American Idol" alum –  Colton Dixon. The two will drop a revamped rendition of his hit track, "Build A Boat."

Dixon turned to social media on Monday (Jan. 23) to tease the highly anticipated collaboration featuring the country powerhouse.

"'Build A Boat' featuring @gabbybarrett_ will be available everywhere this Friday, January 27th!" wrote the vocalist.

The purple cover art that displays directions on how to "Build A Boat" was backed by a snippet of the duet. The audio file showcased Barrett's explosive vocals on the sing-along-worthy chorus. The empowering track that leans more pop than country, serves as a friendly reminder to stand up for what's right and to step outside your comfort zone.

"I will build a boat in the sand where they say it never rains |  I will stand up in faith, I'll do anything it takes |  With Your wind in my sails, Your love never fails or fades | I'll build a boat in the desert place," they sing, blending their award-winning vocals. "And when the flood and the water starts to rise, yeah | I'll ride the storm 'cause I got You by my side |  With Your wind in my sails, Your love never fails or fades | I'll build a boat, so let it rain."

The 31-year-old co-wrote the faith-centric single alongside Seth Mosley, Sandro Cavazza, Johan Lindbrandt, and Michael Gormley. The original version made waves upon release, spending ten weeks at No.1 and also became the longest-running Christian AC song of 2022.

"I respect Colton's creativity as an artist and was already a big fan of 'Build A Boat' before he reached out to collaborate," Barrett told Niagara Frontier Publications. "These lyrics really hit me, and it's such a blessing to be part of this new version and to be able to honor our Lord in this way."

Dixon continued to mention that he was just as excited to team up with Barrett.

"I'm so honored to have a fellow 'American Idol' alum, Gabby Barrett, join me in spreading the message of faith and perseverance through my song 'Build A Boat,'" Dixon shared with the outlet. "What a great way to kick off the year!"

In support of the wildly successful single, Dixon is slated to embark on his headlining Build A Boat Tour this spring. The nationwide trek will hit 35 cities and begin on March 10 in Bedford, New Hampshire, with Jordan St. CYR and Apollo LTD.

Barrett, known for speaking out about her religious beliefs, has yet to confirm the release date of her sophomore album. The project will follow her debut record "Goldmine," which propelled her into the spotlight after her successful run on Season 16. "Build A Boat" will be available to stream everywhere on Friday, Jan. 27.
