OFFSTAGE: Miranda Lambert Duets With Danica Patrick
(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)
When I saw Danica Patrick's tweet yesterday (Aug. 21) saying, "Had a blast with @Miranda_Lambert and the Pistol Annies last night! #gonecountry," I'd just assumed she'd gone to the show in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Monday. But now I get what she meant with her "gone country" hashtag.
Patrick actually joined Lambert onstage, and together they performed Roger Miller's 1965 classic hit "King of the Road." It looks like the NASCAR spitfire just did some dancing while the Texas spitfire did the singing, and the Pistol Annies did the harmonies. But right after the line about being a man of means by no means, Lambert said to the crowd, "Let's say 'queen' this time for her, y'all." Which they did, making the last song of the night "Queen of the Road." Patrick held hands with the Annies when they took their final bow at the concert's finish line.
