Toby Keith Gives Cancer Update, Says He Hopes To Tour By End Of Year

Toby Keith: "All I gotta do is see if I can get through two or three nights of work and get a little break in this chemo."

Toby Keith revealed his stomach cancer diagnosis just over one year ago, and now he says he's feeling "pretty good" and that "everything is in a real positive trend."

"You never know with cancer, so you have to prepare," Keith recently told The Oklahoman.

Keith said he wants to tour again by the end of the year if he has enough energy to play a whole show.

"All I gotta do is see if I can get through two or three nights of work and get a little break in this chemo, and we'll go back to work," he said.

Keith said he's still undergoing chemotherapy for his stomach cancer, that he feels better, his blood tests have been improving and that his tumor has shrunk by one-third, according to The Oklahoman.

"I'm about another eight weeks from my last scan," he said. "So I expect next time I look for that tumor to be even less — and I've only got one that's shown up."

The "Beer For My Horses" singer previously said he received his stomach cancer diagnosis in the fall of 2021.

In June of 2022, he said: "I've spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover, and relax."

At the time of the announcement, Jason Aldean said on social media: "Damn bro. Hate ur dealing with that, but if anybody can kick Cancer's ass, it's you. Prayin for ya big man."

Keith didn't give another public health update for six months; then he told the CMT Hot 20 Countdown that he "need(ed) a little bit of time to just rest up and heal up."

"It's pretty debilitating to have to go through all that, but as long as everything stays hunky-dory, then we'll look at something good in the future," Keith said.
