Eric Church Tops Song Chart With "Talladega"

Sam Hunt’s 'Montevallo' Continues as No. 1 Album

Eric Church’s “Talladega” rolls into the winner’s circle this week on Billboard’s country airplay chart. It took the song 19 weeks to get there.

And Sam Hunt’s Montevallo holds on for the second consecutive week as the No. 1 country album. The collection has sold 273,603 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan’s count.

The week’s highest-debuting album is Ralph Stanley & Friends: Man of Constant Sorrow. The multi-artist project, backed by the Cracker Barrel restaurant chain, sold 3,433 units to take the No. 14 slot.

Also new is the various artists package, 21 Country Hits, which arrives at No. 35.

Returning albums include Old Crow Medicine Show’s Remedy (back at No. 33), Scotty McCreery’s See You Tonight (No. 39), the self-titled Maddie & Tae EP (No. 41), the movie soundtrack The Best of Me (No. 46) and Colt Ford’s Thanks for Listening (No. 49).

There are five new songs, led by Kip Moore’s “I’m to Blame,” bowing at No. 50.

The others are Tim McGraw’s “Diamond Rings and Old Barstools” with Catherine Dunn (No. 51), Maddie & Tae’s “Fly” (No. 53), Brad Paisley’s “Crushin’ It” (No. 54), Kenny Chesney’s “Wild Child” with Grace Potter (No. 56) and Haley & Michaels’ “Just Another Love Song” (No. 59).

RaeLynn’s “God Made Girls” rebounds to No. 16.

Rounding out the Top 5 albums, in descending order, are Jason Aldean’s Old Boots, New Dirt, Carrie Underwood’s Greatest Hits: Decade #1, Blake Shelton’s Bringing Back the Sunshine (which vaulted 10 places from last week’s niche at No. 14, possibly because of the publicity attendant to Shelton’s Saturday Night Live appearance) and Garth Brooks’ Man Against Machine.

The No. 2 through No. 5 songs are Luke Bryan’s “I See You,” Underwood’s “Something in the Water,” Florida Georgia Line’s “Sun Daze” and Chesney’s “Til It’s Gone” (last week’s No. 1).

Noted in passing: Songwriter Shane McAnally has seven songs on this week’s chart while fellow composers Ashley Gorley and Ross Copperman have four each.

Bet somebody’s shopping for a farm.
