57th CMA Awards: Lainey Wilson, Jelly Roll Lead Nominations
Lainey Wilson made CMA Awards history on Thursday morning when, with nine nominations, she became the top nominee going into “The 57th Annual CMA Awards.”
The historical aspect is that she is the only artist to top the nominations list both times she made her first two appearances on the final voting ballot. Wilson earned a spot in the coveted Entertainer of the Year category along with Single of the Year (“Heart Like A Truck”), Single of the Year (“wait in the truck”), Album of the Year (“Bell Bottom Country”), Song of the Year (“Heart Like A Truck”), Female Vocalist of the Year, Musical Event of the Year (“Save Me”), Musical Event of the Year (“wait in the truck”), Music Video of the Year (“wait in the truck”).
“Holy moly y’all,” Wilson wrote on social media. “ Someone pinch me. I can’t believe my eyes. 🥹 I’m so proud of everything we’ve done this year for my own music and these collabs with my brothers @hardy and @jellyroll615. Thank y’all for having me on these songs ❤️
“Being nominated in each of these categories amongst my friends means the world to me. And the coveted Entertainer Of The Year category?! It’s absolutely surreal. We bust our butts out there on the road every dang night to give y’all the best show possible and I have the time of my life doing it.
“All I gotta say is thank y’all. I love country music 🤘🏻”
“The 57th Annual CMA Awards,” hosted by Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning, will broadcast LIVE from Nashville Wednesday, Nov. 8 (8:00 – 11:00 PM/EST) on ABC.
Other top nominees include: Jelly Roll with five nominations; Luke Combs and HARDY have four nominations; Jordan Davis, Ashley McBryde, producer/mix engineer Joey Moi, songwriter/producer Jordan Schmidt, Chris Stapleton, Morgan Wallen and musician/producer Derek Wells each earned three nominations.
“It is known as Country Musics biggest night,” Jelly Roll said on social media. “ It literally doesn’t get any bigger than this and I have 5 nominations . I couldn’t control myself when I got the news .. everything about this is unreal. The truth is being nominated is already a win for me. Just being recognized by my peers and by the industry for the work we put in is amazing , especially for my people , this is a win for all the underdogs and forgotten . These are the moments I hope my people are the most proud of , that I have taken our message to the masses with out compromise and have been embraced . Thank you to CMA’s . This is magical and you can bet the farm that my wife and I will show up dressed to impress yet trashy as ever - see y’all November 8th.”
