Kane Brown Nabs Eighth No. 1 Song, Talks New Music

Kane Brown admits he "didn't know what to do" on stage early in his career.

Kane Brown is celebrating his eighth No. 1 song this week with "Like I Love Country Music," his fastest rising hit to date. "Like I Love Country Music" comes on the heels of his last chart-topper, "One Mississippi," and also topped the Australian and Canadian charts this week.

Brown wrote the song with Jordan Schmidt, Taylor Phillips and Matt McGinn while on tour a few years ago. He told Billboard he recorded "Like I Love Country Music" in 2019 but never released it.

"I always loved the song," he said. "So, I went back into the studio with Dann Huff, and we re-cut it for my new album, 'Different Man.'  I'm really proud that we were patient enough to get the song right. Also, I'm especially grateful to Ronnie Dunn and Kix Brooks, who added their vocals to the song, which made it complete."

Brown is wasting no time sharing new music from "Different Man." He dropped new song "Go Around" from his new album today.

"Different Man" will be available Sept. 9.

"Honestly, man… this is the song I could not write over Zoom when all that stuff started happening… and this is the one song that we got over Zoom," Browm told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1. "I think it's because I got to write with the band that I signed to my label, Restless Road, and they just have such a young, fun energy, and of course Ernest and Jordan Schmidt. So it was the only Zoom that worked; it was rocking, and I fell in love with it immediately. Yeah, and it was a lot of fun just adding all those heavy guitars to it as well."

Brown told Lowe that he feels like he's still growing as an artist and that "Different Man" represents the first time he co-produced one of his albums.

He admitted his career ramped up at lightning speed.

"I did like eight bar shows and then got thrown on tour with Florida Georgia Line, going from 800 people to 15 to 20,000," Brown said. "I didn't know what to do. I was the guy that was just filming himself in a bathroom, and if I didn't like it I could take it down. And it moved quick."
