Miranda Lambert Working on Comedy Film

I had a funny feeling something good was 'bout to happen. When I first saw the video for Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood's "Somethin' Bad," it looked just like a movie trailer. So my gut told me that maybe -- just maybe -- Lambert and the video's director Trey Fanjoy were going to be leaning a little more movie-like on future projects.

So now Deadline is saying it's so.

Lambert and Fanjoy are working with screenwriter Cindy McCreery on a female comedy script called Something in the Water. And reports are Lambert might even play one of the film's five women competing in a bass fishing competition. Fanjoy said the movie will be kind of a Bridesmaids meets Steel Magnolias.

Fanjoy has directed almost all of Lambert's music videos since they collaborated on her debut video "Me and Charlie Talking" 10 years ago. Others include "Kerosene," "New Strings," "Famous in a Small Town," "Over You," "The House That Built Me," "Fastest Girl in Town," "Mama's Broken Heart," "Only Prettier," "Automatic" and the most recent one, "Somethin' Bad."

And since Fanjoy has also directed so many of Blake Shelton's videos, like "Boys 'Round Here" and "Sure Be Cool If You Did," maybe the women will find a role for him in the movie, too.
