OFFSTAGE: Even Chris Young's Parents Heard Voices

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Chris Young's latest single, "Voices," just hit the top spot on the charts. It is such a great song, I insist you go listen to it immediately if you haven't heard it already. It's all about how the voices you hear in your head -- like your dad saying, "Work that job, but don't work your life away" and your granddad saying, "You can have a few, but don't ever cross that line"-- are the ones full of wisdom. But what I think is so funny is that Young has said that his parents heard his voice all the time. When he was younger, he learned to sing Randy Travis' "Diggin' Up Bones" all the way through. And he sang it in the car. A lot. Which allegedly drove his parents crazy to hear him singing it over and over. I'm sure they're proud of him now, but I also have a feeling they'll never get that Travis song out of their heads.
