With four nods, Faith Hill leads the nominations for the 28th Annual American Music Awards, to be handed out Jan. 8 in Los Angeles. Hill was nominated in two country categories -- favorite country female artist and favorite country album for Breathe -- as well as two pop categories. She'll compete with Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion and Britney Spears for favorite pop/rock female artist, and she'll face Marc Anthony and Dion in the race for favorite adult contemporary artist. Alan Jackson received two nominations. He'll compete with George Strait and Tim McGraw for favorite male country artist. Jackson's Under the Influence will go against Hill's Breathe and Toby Keith's How Do You Like Me Now?! for favorite country album. Other nominees include Brooks & Dunn, Dixie Chicks and Lonestar for favorite country band, duo or group, and Alecia Elliott, Billy Gilman and Keith Urban for favorite new country artist. Reba McEntire and Martina McBride will vie with Hill for the favorite female country artist trophy. The American Music Awards will be broadcast live on ABC.
