Caitlyn Smith Postpones Shows Due To Pregnancy Complications

Caitlyn Smith: "I wanted to share that I spent last night in the ER after experiencing some complications with my pregnancy."

Caitlyn Smith, who released her third album, "High & Low," earlier this year, shared that she's struggling with problems in her pregnancy and won't be able to play upcoming shows.

"While I am extremely grateful that the baby is healthy, I wanted to share that I spent last night in the ER after experiencing some complications with my pregnancy," Smith wrote on Instagram.

After receiving advice from her doctors, she said it is "with a heavy heart" that she's opting to cancel some concerts so she can "remain at home for a few weeks."

"I was so excited to play for you all this weekend," she said. "But know that shows will be rescheduled as soon as I am cleared."

Smith indicated upcoming performances in Boise, Idaho; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Boulder, Colorado, would be impacted.

Smith recently talked to Trailblazers Radio with Fancy Hagood on Apple Music Country about balancing her family and career.

"Balance is a yearly, weekly, monthly, whatever ... you're always reevaluating balance," she said. "It's something, though, that is at the top of my priority list because No. 1, I want to show up and be the best wife and mom and friend, person first, and then make sure that I'm taking care of myself so that I can take care of everybody around me. And then I think you get a little more choosy, too, as a mom where you're like, 'I can't.' I choose to not do a certain amount of days away from the kids, and so they come out on the road if it's longer than X amount of days, we make it work out."

She said she's "always striving to figure it out – and she doesn't, yet.

"For so long, I feel like I needed to make it look so good, take care of everyone, and be the mom and do the things," she said. "And it's actually being real about how it is really hard sometimes, and sometimes I'm away from my kids for four days, and I'm crying alone in a hotel room, and that's hard. But then I come home, and I snuggle my babies for two days straight and do my best to make up for it."

Smith is mom to Lewis James, 4, and Thomas Miles, 7.
