Morgan Evans Breaks Silence About Divorce From Kelsea Ballerini

Morgan Evans: “I wish it were otherwise but sadly it is not.”

Morgan Evans has confirmed his divorce from country star Kelsea Ballerini.

The “Kiss Somebody” singer turned to social media Monday (Aug. 30) evening to grieve the end of his marriage. Evans wrote a heart-wrenching update on his personal Instagram story.

“I am very sad to confirm that after almost 5 years of marriage, Kelsea and I are parting ways,” shared Evans. “I wish it were otherwise but sadly it is not.”

The Australian native did not reveal the reason behind the split. Ballerini was the first to speak out and address their relationship status.

“Friends, I’ve always tried my best to share my life with you in a real and vulnerable way, while we also protecting layers of my personal life as they unfold. This is now public record so I wanted you to hear from me directly that I am going through a divorce,” said the hitmaker. “This deeply difficult decision is the result of a journey of love, growth, and effort that ultimately has come to an end.”

She continued, “It’s hard to find the words here…but I feel extremely grateful for the years of marriage to Morgan and hopeful for the next seasons.”

The flame between the two was first lit in 2016, when they co-hosted Australia’s Country Music Channel Awards. Following the star-studded affair, Ballerini and Evans shared their first kiss at an after-party. Within the same year, Evans proposed on Christmas Day with a customized engagement ring.

The country couple fled to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in 2017 to tie the knot seaside. The platinum-selling artist wore an elegant Berta gown with delicate lace and detailing. According to People, Ballerini met Evans at the alter barefoot before they exchanged engraved wedding rings. Following the intimate ceremony, the love birds navigated the country music space together and praised each other in the public eye.

Most recently, Evans cheered Ballerini on at the 2022 CMT Music Awards, where she served as host from her Tennessee home after falling ill with COVID-19. As the songstress performed her breezy single “HEARTFIRST” from her very own backyard, Evans captured each moment with pride.

According to court records obtained by E! News, Ballerini filed for divorce on Aug.  26 under “irreconcilable differences.” In the midst of the split, Ballerini is slated to release her fifth studio album, “Subject To Change” on September 23. As for Evans, he will celebrate Labor Day at the Boots And Brews Country Music Festival in Santa Clarita, Calif.
