If pop sensation Miley Cyrus was presented with the opportunity to play her godmother Dolly Parton in a biopic, she would want to run it by Parton first. 

The “Wrecking Ball” singer recently (Dec. 15) sat down with E! News to discuss whether or not she would play the country music icon in a documentary-style film one day. The casting would not come as a surprise, since Cyrus previously made waves with her impressive covers of “Jolene,” “Light of a Clear blue Morning,” and “9 to 5.”

The platinum-selling performer pointed out that the potential opportunity has never been a topic of conversation with the legend.

“Me and Dolly have never really spoken, honestly, about me playing Dolly,” Cyrus told the outlet. “I feel like I’m already doing it,” she added. 

Cyrus jokily declared that she’s already a spitting version of the hitmaker. The singer-songwriter began to wonder how the creative directors would go the extra mile to transform her into Parton.

“I don’t know what they’re gonna do to me. I’m sucked, I’m tucked and plucked, just like she taught me,” shared the vocalist.

Despite their successful and busy music careers, the two maintained a tight-knit relationship. Cyrus is one of many musicians featured in “Dolly Parton’s Magic Mountain Christmas,” a holiday special.

“It’s the story of the behind-the-scenes of making of a network special,” said Parton in a festive first-look video. “It’s like a show within a show, a movie within a movie. It’s like really showing what can go wrong and will go wrong. There’s so much drama, so much craziness.”

The action-packed segment was filmed at Dollywood, her amusement park located in Pigeon Forge, TN. Country music fans will recognize a string of familiar faces, including – Willie Nelson, Billy Ray Cyrus, Zach Williams, Jimmy Fallon, and Jimmie Allen. The must-see show has also turned into a family affair, as her two sisters Cassie Parton Griffith and Rachel Parton George have joined in on the fun alongside Cyrus.

Cyrus and Parton will also be ringing in the new year together. The two will co-host Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party live from Miami. The Lorne Michael’s produced broadcast is slated to return to NBC and will feature a show-stopping lineup of performers.

The country crossover will air on Saturday, Dec. 31, from 10:30 p.m. –12:30 a.m. ET on NBC.
