OFFSTAGE: 'Girls' Star Made Taylor Swift's Day

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

If there really is a Mutual Adoration Society out there somewhere, I think Taylor Swift and Lena Dunham just joined. Dunham, the creator and star of HBO's hit show Girls, is a fan of Taylor Swift. And Swift is a big fan of Dunham's. Swift says that when she found out Dunham listened to her music, it was a really good day for her. "Lena Dunham is this girl who is so incredibly talented. She's a writer, director and actress who stars in this show called Girls on HBO. And it's -- my friends and I -- it's our favorite show," Swift told CMT Radio recently. "And I've always been really blown away by how she's so young -- she's in her mid 20s -- and she does all these things. She creates so much. When I found out that she listens to my music, it absolutely floored me. It made my day, honestly." I remember being floored when I'd heard that about Dunham, too. Only because I recall -- vividly -- a little Swift joke during an episode in the show's first season. Dunham's character Hannah showed up for work at the coffee shop, but her boss told her to go home and change her outfit. "And don't do some (expletive) where you come back wearing gray flannel sweatpants and a Taylor Swift T-shirt to be a (expletive)."
