OFFSTAGE: Jason Aldean Is Kristen Bell's CMT Music Awards Co-Host

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

I knew it. I just knew Jason Aldean would be the guy. It wasn't that hard to figure out who actress Kristen Bell's mystery CMT Music Awards co-host would be this week after she started tweeting solid hints about "stadium shows" and "night trains." And on Thursday (May 2) afternoon, she made it official. "Holla!!! @Jason_Aldean and I'll be hosting the #CMTawards on Wed, June 5 @8/7c on @CMT! Get ready Jason it is going to be a blast!," she wrote. Aldean replied with a tweet of his own after seeing the picture of her wearing one of his shirts: "Badass shirt @IMKristenBell Lookin forward to hosting #CMTAwards with ya. now to finish my Veronica Mars marathon."

I don't know what's behind the decision to bring the two together, but even though Aldean has never hosted an awards show before, he has certainly brought home enough trophies to be comfortable on that stage. Last year, he won his own CMT Music Award for performance of the year for "Tattoos on This Town." I also know Aldean is a bit of a Veronica Mars fan, so he should be pretty psyched to hang with Bell -- the hit TV show's star -- for a few hours on June 5. And I'm sure the feeling's mutual for Bell. She hosted the show last year with Toby Keith and is already a big country fan, so when she tweeted on Monday that she was looking forward to getting back to Nashville to host, I knew it was meant to be.
