Carly Pearce Says She’s Reevaluating Her Creative Process And Wants To Follow In Dolly Parton And Reba McEntire’s Footsteps

Carly Pearce shares a small snippet of a song on her forthcoming album – LISTEN!

2022 has been a whirlwind for Carly Pearce. Instead of slowing down, the songstress is entering the new year at full speed.

The “What He Didn’t Do” singer recently (Dec. 12) caught up with Big Machine Label Group to discuss how she’s reevaluating her creative process to cultivate her next record. Within the last twelve months, Pearce discovered that honesty is her undeniable superpower that turned her into a country music star.

Following the release of her critically acclaimed album “29: Written In Stone,” Pearce dominated the country landscape and scored a handful of prestigious accolades. While her storytelling soul was recognized at CMT Artists of The Year, she already held the reigning title of CMA and ACM Female Vocalist of the Year. The powerhouse was proudly inducted into the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame, appeared at iconic stadiums with Kenny Chesney, and most recently was nominated for her first GRAMMY Award with “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” featuring Ashley McBryde.

Despite her well-deserved success, Pearce declared that she took an alternative approach for her next project. The vital questions she has asked herself have become her compass and have pointed her in the right direction thus far.

"Obviously, at the top of my list is creating great music. I saw how much that changed everything for me. At the end of the day, what we do is put out music, and that’s what kind of continues on our trajectory of what happens next,” explained Pearce. “So, I think making this next record as good or better as 29 is super important to me. But I think past just the music stuff, I want to be the women that I love, the Dolly’s, the Reba‘s.”

Pearce continued to mention that she’s currently in the process of figuring out her next step. Although the vocalist is pushing her musical boundaries, she also hopes to take her talents beyond the stage and studio to make 2023 a historical chapter.

“They’re household names. So, I want to figure out what is my version of that. You know, is that doing something outside of music? Is that just expanding and kind of stretching? I know I can do music, but what else can I do within that umbrella of just challenging myself?”

Pearce previously told CMT that her next installment will lyrically be more vibrant and empowering, as she will be sharing a glimpse of “happier times.”

“I think this album has so much more good, than it did pain in the end for me,” she said about her post-divorce project. “I feel like it’s just the starting point for me of where I want to go, and it showed me what I want to do musically. Now, let’s go. Let’s go on all of the bit happier times.”

The promising artist recently assured fans that a full-length project is on the horizon, as she shared an easter egg on Instagram early Monday (Dec. 12) morning. The short clip was captured during a studio session in which they reviewed and laid down instrumentals. Within the cryptic caption, Pearce wrote a string of eye emojis.

Country music fans and notable names in the industry flooded the comments to express their excitement.

“HIT EM WITH THE FIDDLE CP,” said singer-songwriter Adam Hambrick. “Another hit coming!!!” shared a listener. “This makes my heart so happy,” added another.

Pearce has yet to declare an official release date or additional information regarding the forthcoming project. Until her devoted community has new material, they can buy tickets to Black Shelton’s Back To The Honky Tonk Tour, where Pearce will serve as direct support.
