Grammy Nominations: Sam Hunt, Chris Stapleton Score in Top Categories
Sam Hunt and Chris Stapleton are each nominated in top all-genre categories at the 58th annual Grammy Awards. The nominations were revealed Monday morning (Dec. 7).
Hunt is the only country nominee for best new artist, a category featuring Courtney Barnett, James Bay, Tori Kelly and Meghan Trainor.
Stapleton's Traveller is up for album of the year in a category that also includes Alabama Shakes' Sound & Color, Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly, Taylor Swift's 1989 and the Weeknd's Beauty Behind the Madness.
Additionally, Little Big Town's hit, "Girl Crush," has netted a song of the year nomination for songwriters Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna and Liz Rose. Taylor Swift also shares a song of the year nomination with co-writers Max Martin and Shellback for "Blank Space."
Stapleton's Traveller is also nominated for best country album, and the title track is up for best country song and best country solo performance.
Hunt is also likely doing a victory dance. In addition to his best new artist nomination, he's up for best country album for his debut project, Montevallo.
"Girl Crush” also racked up nods for overall best country song, and Little Big Town claims nominations for best country duo/group performance and a best country album nomination for Pain Killer.
Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me, the documentary surrounding the Country Music Hall of Fame member's battle with Alzheimer's, received a nomination for best compilation soundtrack for visual media.
The Grammy Awards air live Feb. 15 on CBS.
