"I’m Not Gonna Miss You" Comes From Documentary

Glen Campbell has capped his recording career with an Oscar nomination for “I’m Not Gonna Miss You,” a 2014 single that received the nod on Thursday morning (Jan. 15) for best original song in a film.

The recording comes from a documentary titled Glen Campbell … I’ll Be Me, which chronicles his diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease. Campbell wrote the song and shares the nomination with producer Julian Campbell.

Other nominees in the category are: John Legend -- “Glory (featuring Common)” from Selma; Tegan and Sara and the Lonely Island -- “Everything Is Awesome” from The Lego Movie; Adam Levine -- “Lost Stars” from Begin Again; and Rita Ora -- “Grateful” from Beyond the Lights.

Campbell is a member of Country Music Hall of Fame. He retired from touring in 2011 due to the disease. He now resides in an assisted living facility in the Nashville area.
