Ashley McBryde Opens Up About The Creative Process Behind Her Star-Studded Album, "Lindeville"

"Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville" will arrive on Friday, September 30.

GRAMMY-nominated artist Ashley McBryde has new music in the pipeline.

The powerhouse vocalist recently (Sept. 14) announced that her full-length album "Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville" will arrive on Friday, September 30. The 13-song collection, which conveys untold tales about individuals living in a rural small town, fell into place on its own.

The seasoned singer-songwriter embarked on a weeklong writing retreat with a group of her favorite collaborators to work on a project. While tucked away in a cabin outside Nashville, the creative group cultivated a project they had no intentions of releasing…until now.

While crafting the collection, they followed the writing style of legendary songwriter Dennis Linde, the hitmaker behind "Burning Love," Dixie Chicks' "Goodbye Earl," and the 1992 Mark Chesnutt hit "Bubba Shot the Jukebox."

"A few years ago, Aaron Raitiere, Nicolette Hayford, and I were on a write," McBryde said in a statement. "We wrote this song called 'Blackout Betty,' and I realized we had written previous songs called 'Shut Up Sheila' on Never Will and 'Livin' Next to Leroy' on Girl Going Nowhere. Aaron had a song called 'Jesus, Jenny,' and I thought, 'We should keep these characters together and give them a place to live!'

It wasn't long until "Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville" was born, and Aaron's track "Jesus, Jenny" found its forever home. McBryde joined forces with critically acclaimed songwriters Raitiere, Hayford, Connie Harrington, Brandy Clark, and Benjy Davis to turn her vision of a tiny town into a reality. They all pulled from their own upbringings to build a fictional community inspired by Linde.

"I thought, 'What if we call it Lindeville?' in honor of Dennis Linde," the Arkansas native recalled. "I want to lock six writers in a house and just spend six- or seven days writing. We stayed in Tennessee in this little house close to a lake. It was eight bottles of tequila, two cartons of cigarettes, one kitchen table, and six individuals out of their minds," she added.

McBryde turned John Osborne to produce her third studio album, which features collaborations with Brothers Osborne, Clark, Raitiere, Pillbox Patti, Caylee Hammack, and Benjy Davis. Each guest appearance represents a character, that may be familiar to an ordinary folk. The carefully crafted record served as the first project Osborne produced independently.

"This is technically the first full-length album that I've produced by myself. One of the things I tried to do was capture each character as a performance," explained Osborne. "I listened to each song, and I wrestled with it for a while. Do I want to make the songs sound the same? Make it sound like it's all done in one room on one day?"

He continued to elaborate on his thought process.

"Then I thought to myself, 'Each song has to represent not only a different character, but a different emotion and a different story.' There is certainly continuity between the tracks – we have vocalists and mostly the same musicians on every song. But I decided to take different approaches to each song because it needed to represent the story."

McBryde hopes the album takes her listeners on an exhilarating journey and encourages them to escape reality.

"I just hope that when a few, even just a handful, of people listen to the record, and it ends with the line 'Nothing but stars over Lindeville,' they put their hands over their heart and say, 'What a nice trip that was,'" shared the hitmaker. "And for the whole running time of the record, nothing else had to matter. You got to focus on other people's drama and other people's problems and got the reminder that everything's all right."

Following the release of "Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville," the impressive storyteller will join The Judds: The Final Tour with Wynonna and Martina McBride. Tickets are available for purchase, here.
