One of the very worst things about postpartum depression is that everyone is wondering how on earth you can be depressed. You have an adorable new baby, with ten fingers and ten toes, and that should make you happy. Not sad. Not moody. Not withdrawn.
I know, because I've been there. And now, Hayden Panettiere is, too.
Panettiere, who plays country superstar Juliette Barnes on ABC's Nashville (who is also struggling with the emotional roller coaster of being a new mother to baby Cadence), has checked into a treatment center to battle her postpartum depression.
Her baby girl Kaya is almost 12 months old, but according to the Mayo Clinic, longer-lasting baby blues can actually interfere with your ability to care for your baby.
"Hayden Panettiere is voluntarily seeking professional help at a treatment center as she is currently battling postpartum depression," Panettiere's rep told E! News. "She asks that the media respect her privacy during this time."
