Carrie Underwood: Pregnancy Still Feels "Kind of Weird"

Star Has Perfect Role Model in Her Own Mom

"It's still kind of weird, to be honest." That's how Carrie Underwood described her pregnancy during a Friday (Sept. 26) appearance on NBC's Today.

Host Hoda Kotb's job during the interview was to ask Underwood about her new song and her new greatest hits album, but how can you not talk about the baby bump in the room?

So Kotb asked her how she felt about her big news.

"Sometimes I'll be with my husband, like, 'I'm gonna be a mom. You're gonna be a dad,'" she said of how she and Mike Fisher are still just getting used to the idea. "It's like, 'Is this real life?' But we're really excited."

The idea of motherhood, in general, seems like it will come naturally to Underwood because she grew up watching one of the best.

"I have a wonderful mother, so if I can be even a little bit like that, I think that we'll be good," she said.

Eventually, Underwood and Kotb did get around to talking about the music.

The new song, "Something in the Water," will be available on Monday (Sept. 29) and will be on her upcoming album Greatest Hits: Decade #1 due out in December.

"It's really kind of a joyous, uplifting song basically about changing your life for the better," Underwood said of the new song. "It makes my heart happy to sing things like that."
