Taylor Swift Delivers Hugs and Surprise Concert to Auburn University Students

Taylor Swift made a special appearance Monday (April 26) at Auburn University to surprise two students who have been on a quest to receive a hug from her. According to CMT Radio, Swift and her band traveled to the Alabama campus to perform a free mini-concert for fans while she wore a homemade shirt with the words, "A Hug for Ryan and Michael." In January, Auburn students Ryan Leander and Michael Wekall created a website,, featuring videos detailing their mission to get a hug from the singer-songwriter. In March, Swift posted a video of her own, issuing a challenge to Wekall and Leander to do a good deed, helping an elderly woman across the street, in order to earn their hugs. After the students completed the assignment, Swift issued a second challenge asking the two to creatively incorporate the number 13, her lucky number, into their good deeds. Auburn students were asked to attend Monday afternoon's event for karaoke performances of [mtvn_video_page id="377889"]"You Belong With Me."[/mtvn_video_page] CMT Radio reports that she first greeted the fans via video and then entered the room through a back door. At the close of her acoustic performance, she joined the crowd in Auburn's "War Eagle!" chant.
