RaeLynn: Everything From Dolly to Dierks

Texan Talks About Her Musical Influences

You can tell what a one-track mind RaeLynn has when it comes to music after hearing about her list of influences. It's nothing but country.

For starters, she calls Dolly Parton more than just an artist.

"She’s somebody who changed and brought some light to this world. That’s who I aspire to be -- an artist who does more than just sing on a stage. I want to make a difference," RaeLynn said in an interview with Country Aircheck.

Then she lists a few specific albums that shaped her: Miranda Lambert’s Kerosene ("It was the first record I ever bought with my own money"), Taylor Swift’s Speak Now ("It was so cool that she wrote every song on that record by herself. That just doesn’t happen a lot, where an artist is so vulnerable") and Dierks Bentley’s Riser ("I couldn’t get enough of that album").

And then she adds three more girls to her list: the Dixie Chicks.

"I’ve always been a big fan of them and their sound, especially growing up in Texas. I just loved all of their songs and they influenced me a lot," she added.

In related news, RaeLynn has announced that the release date of her debut album, WildHorse, has been moved from Dec. 2 to sometime in 2017.

"We were initially targeting a release for this year but an amazing opportunity has come along that’s changed the way I’m thinking about my debut album launch,” she said. “The big news will be coming soon."
